  Lovelace Women’s Hospital is hiring a Quality Improvement Abstractor.

  • Responsible for reviewing patient medical records to assure quality standards are achieved and that documentation is within compliance with established regulatory agencies. 
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement during point of care record review and/or during data abstraction and facilitates on site improvements as directed by the Director of Quality Management. 
  • Abstracts complex data elements for Core Measures, regulatory agencies, and CMS compliance and enters into required data base(s) in a timely and accurate fashion. 
  • Performs quality process improvement activities as directed, assists Quality Department with problem solving and implementing solutions, developing and maintaining statistical databases, developing and producing complex reports and assisting clinical/operational leadership and staff with quality projects as assigned. 
  • Familiarizes self with regulatory requirements for performance improvement, quality assessment and patient safety. 
  • In collaboration with management, may develop and produce evaluative tools and provide detailed analysis. 
  • Interpret and presents data effectively to all management levels. 
  • Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure patient safety and compliance.

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study. Education may be substituted for relevant experience in accordance to policy.
  • Two (2) years of previous job related experience. Experience may be substituted for relevant education in accordance to policy.
  • Current License in respective field.
  • Advanced Computer Skill desired
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to organize work flow, function independently and manage own time and work tasks
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to deal calmly, courteously and efficiently with people
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency and compile complex reports
