  Nurse Abstracor, Quality Management, PRN, Days 

We are looking for a Nurse Abstractor to join our Quality Management team in Roswell, NM.

    This PRN job is located at  Lovelace Regional Hospital   provides 24/7 emergency services, intensive care,  inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, surgical services and birthing services for Roswell and the surrounding community. Lovelace’s presence in Roswell also includes a primary and specialty care clinic to allow us to better serve the residents of southeast New Mexico.   

     Nurse Abstractor Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing patient medical records to assure quality standards are achieved and that documentation is within compliance with established regulatory agencies.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement during point of care record review and/or during data abstraction and facilitates onsite improvements as directed by the Director of Quality Management.

  • Abstracts moderate to complex data elements for Core Measures, STS, ACC-NCDR and enters into required data base(s) in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Performs quality process improvement activities as directed, including identifying performance improvement opportunities and assisting the Director of Quality Management with problem solving and implementing solutions, developing and maintaining statistical databases, developing and producing complex reports and assisting clinical/operational leadership and staff with quality projects as assigned.

  • Familiarizes self with regulatory requirements for performance improvement, quality assessment and patient safety.

    Nurse Abstractor Education and Experiences job Requirements:
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. 
  • Education may be substituted for relevant nursing experience in accordance to policy.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data; ability to organize workflow, function independently and manage own time and work tasks; strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to deal calmly, courteously and efficiently with people.

  • Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency and compile moderately complex reports. 

  • Computer skills minimally include data entry abilities, Excel and Word.

  • Two (2) years of previous job-related experience.

  • Experience may be substituted for relevant education in accordance to policy.

  • Valid NM Nursing license or NM compact license (within 90 days of hire)
