  We are looking for a Technical Lab Assistant to join our Laboratory team in Roswell, NM.

  This PRN job is located at Lovelace Regional Hospital provides 24/7 emergency services, intensive care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, surgical services and birthing services for Roswell and the surrounding community. Lovelace’s presence in Roswell also includes a primary and specialty care clinic to allow us to better serve the residents of southeast New Mexico.

  Technical Lab Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for answering client inquiries with regard to specimen collection, pricing, test results and other questions not requiring a response from one of the technical personnel. 
  • May collect and receive clinical specimens from patients and/or perform clerical computer, and basic technical laboratory functions.
  • Acts as an information source for hospital personnel with laboratory-related issues and willingly accepts special projects and assignments.
  •   Assists with inventory management, ordering, stocking of supplies, and in the care and maintenance of laboratory work area and furnishings/equipment. 
  •   Performs accurate computer data entry; consistently verifies accuracy of data prior to release and assures proper handling, storage and maintenance of patient specimens and records. 

Technical Lab Assistant Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Completion of an Accredited Lab Assistant or Phlebotomy Program desired
  • One (1) year of previous job-related experience in phlebotomy or processing, Two (2) years of previous job-related experience in phlebotomy or processing preferred
  • Ability to finish tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and established procedures
  • Communication and organization skills, maintain strict confidentiality
