Lovelace Regional Hospital Roswell is now hiring a Tech, Surgical

Summary of Job Duties:

Performs various clinical settings services and support related to direct patient care activities to include but not limited to: anticipating the need for medical instruments, supplies and equipment that may be required for procedures while maintaining a sterile environment   Adheres to policies and procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety

Essential Functions

Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions and sterilization/decontamination of instruments and equipment.

Follows appropriate protocols/policies/procedures in individualizing care dependent on specialty and/or patient

Maintains the sterile field and conveys the appropriate instrument and supplies.

Assists in the OR with holding limbs for skin preps, patient positioning, transports patients to designated areas; prepares post-operative bed or stretcher.

Responsible for completing basic surgical tech competencies in addition to departmental specific competencies.

Assists in the holding area with patient preparation, shave preps, vital signs, etc., under the direct supervision of an RN.

Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested.

Communicates effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge and listens.

Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to “service”.

Education

Minimum:  High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Desired: Graduate of accredited surgical technologist program.

Technical/Formal Training

Sterile technique, medical terminology, instrumentation, or medical equipment knowledge

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Basic Computer skills; High level of analytical skills, ability to anticipate MD/Department and patient needs; Effective and excellent communication and customer service skills.

Experience

Minimum education may be substituted for experience requirement.: Six (6) months related experience; Relevant

Desired: One (1) year previous related experience in an OR or sterile environment
