We are looking for a Sterile Processing Tech to join our Surgical team in Roswell, NM.
  This full-time job is located at   Lovelace Regional Hospital, Roswell, which provides 24/7 emergency services, intensive care, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, surgical services and birthing services for Roswell and the surrounding community. Lovelace’s presence in Roswell also includes a primary and specialty care clinic to allow us to better serve the residents of southeast New Mexico.
Sterile Processing Tech Job Responsibilities:

  • The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterile processing of all instruments used in the operating room and ambulatory/specialty clinics.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret the surgery schedule and take a lead role in determining the instrumentation and staff work flow.
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the procedures/policies required for decontamination and terminal sterilization of instrumentation while instituting protective measures to assure proper decontamination and sterilization.
  • Demonstrates operational knowledge and technical competence when using equipment and supplies and can precept new employees in cleaning instruments/equipment/supplies properly and stores them securely. 
  • Maintains instrumentation/equipment in good working order and reports malfunctions or broken items or unsafe instrumentation to appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of decontaminator, ultrasonic, washer sterilizer, hand washing delicate, flexible, power instrumentation, steam, plasma-hydrogen peroxide, paracetic acid methods of stylization.

Sterile Processing Tech Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of previous job-related experience in Central Supply and/or Sterile Processing experience in hospital or clinic setting, preferred
  • National Certification in Sterile Processing or equivalent, desired
  •   Advanced knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring  
  • Ability to take a lead role in workflow and problem solve equipment malfunctioning
