Sterile Processing Tech, Full-Time job, Variable Hours, Albuquerque, NM

  We are looking for a Sterile Processing Tech to join our Sterile Processing team in Albuquerque, NM.
  This full-time job is located at Lovelace Women’s Hospital, the first and only hospital in New Mexico dedicated to women’s health, offers a 53-bed advanced neonatal intensive care unit, a natural birthing center, an award-winning breast care center and the first robotic surgery program in the state recognized as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation.

  Sterile Processing Tech Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for decontamination, correct assembly and sterile processing of all instruments used in the operating room and ambulatory/specialty clinics. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret the surgery schedule and take a lead role in determining instrumentation and staff work flow. 
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the procedures/policies required for decontamination and terminal sterilization of instrumentation while instituting protective measures to assure proper decontamination and sterilization.
  • Demonstrates operational knowledge and technical competence when using equipment and supplies and can precept new employees in cleaning instruments/equipment/supplies properly and stores them securely. 
  • Maintains instrumentation/equipment in good working order and reports malfunctions or broken items or unsafe instrumentation to appropriate personnel. 
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of decontaminator, ultrasonic, washer sterilizer, hand washing delicate, flexible, power instrumentation, steam, plasma-hydrogen peroxide, paracetic acid methods of stylization. 

Sterile Processing Tech Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and GED equivalent
  • One (1) year of previous job-related experience in Central Supply and/or Sterile Processing
  • Experience in hospital or clinic setting preferred
  • National Certification in Sterile processing or equivalent desired
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring. 
  • Ability to take a lead role in work flow and problem solve equipment malfunctioning.
