The Physical Therapy Assistant provides therapy treatment to patients with developmental, physical, cognitive and/or emotional impairments, disabilities and/or handicaps under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. 

Working Conditions:

May be required to work irregular schedules including but not limited to as applicable:  Nights, Weekends, Holidays, on-call, and overtime.

Exposure to elements including, but not limited to:  dust, noise, moisture, heat, etc…

Potential exposure to hazards materials/situations to include but not limited to, blood-borne pathogens, ionizing radiation, and   communicable diseases.

Typical office environment.

Essential Functions

1)  Provides physical therapy services as directed by a licensed physical therapist. May work in collaboration with other health care professionals.  May provide treatment to individuals or groups as necessary.

2)  Identifies and prioritizes patient problems and notifies Physical Therapist of areas of concerns with patient response.

3)  Responsible for completing basic physical therapy assistant competencies in addition to departmental specific competencies.

4)  Meets productivity expectation for level of care.

5)  Provides detailed and concise documentation related to patient care

6)  Takes ownership of assignments; other duties as assigned or requested.

7)  Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge.

8)  Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to “service”.
