Lovelace Women’s Hospital is hiring a Patient Ambassador/PCT

The Patient Ambassador/PCT’s duties include:

  • Meeting with all new in-patients in the hospital to explain the Patient Concierge Book, Welcome Guide, meals, ordering, hourly rounding, phones.  Attempt to meet patient’s specific requests.  Make sure the patient has their call light and phone within reach.
  • Being available to assist other units throughout the day.  May be called to serve as a witness for Ultrasound, assist with transport, discharge or have labs taken down, etc.
  • Communicating with units as necessary, such as dietary, transport, nurses, case workers, housekeeping volunteers etc., to best assist patients with questions and concerns.
  • Visiting with patients who may be concerned or anxious, to bet help them navigate their hospital experience.  Be willing to sit with patients during tests if asked.  Empathy, understanding and genuine concern for each patient and their situation is important.
  • Being ready to assist clinical staff with requests.  Set up patient rooms for daily admits.  Assist with Family Birthing Center bassinets, assist patients with menus, get toiletry items and towels for patients, order meals if approved by nurse, deliver magazines, books, puzzles.  May answer call light and if unable to assist patient then call nurse/tech for assistance.  Deliver warm towels to patient so they can freshen and clean face and hands before meals.  Clear trash and straighten up patient belongings or put into closet.
  • Audits of white boards as directed.
  • Discharge calling if assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    Desired: Experience in a healthcare setting or service related industry
  • BLS
