  Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation services for patients recovering from health care conditions such as stroke, brain injury and musculoskeletal disorders. The only rehabilitation hospital in the state accredited in six programs by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
 Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital is hiring a PRN   Food Service Worker  


Ideal candidate possesses a valid driver’s license. This position will require some driving. 

  • Performs general food serving duties to include setting up food station, serving and preparing food. May assist with special functions.  
  • Perform basic cashiering duties; collect money, close and balance register.
  • Maintains work area to ensure a clean and safe environment.  Adheres to safety requirements as required.  
  • Responsible for completing basic competencies in addition to departmental specific competencies. 
  •   Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety. 


  PRN means “as needed.” This type of work schedule is common in allied health and medical professions. Although working PRN shares similarities with working part time, PRN positions differ in that the schedule changes and a certain number of hours aren’t guaranteed per week.  Along with working as scheduled, employees who are hired into PRN positions may be expected to cover unexpected absences as needed by the hospital.  Since hospitals are a 24/7 operation, we are seeking candidates who are willing to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed.  

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic cashierng skills
  • Six (6) months related experience
