Lovelace Medical Center is hiring an Certified Surgical First Assistant.

  • Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other inoperative technical functions that help the surgeon be more efficient in the operating room with optimal results for the patient.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup including sterilization methods.
  • Supports surgeons in the operating room in a variety of surgical specialties.
  • Functions as a member of the Perioperative Team in planning for the needs of patients during surgery. 
  • Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum:  Completion of Accredited Surgical Technology program and completion of recognized Surgical First Assistant Program. 
  • Anatomy and Physiology, sterile technique, medical terminology; instrumentation and medical equipment knowledge.
  • Unit Specific Competencies; Sterilization techniques; Operating Room instruments and supplies; medical terminology; Excellent Critical thinking skills.
  • Minimum: Two (2) years OR Scrub Tech Technician experience
  • Minimum: Certified Surgical Technician, Certified Surgical Assistant Certification (CSFA), BLS, and ACLS.
